Just when you thought it was safe to go into the woods again, 2018 welcomes the digital urban legend that is Slender Man, who will be making his cinematic debut this summer.
Directed by Sylvian White and joined by actors Javier Botet as Slender Man, Joey King as Wren and Julie Goldani Telles as Hallie, the project boasts an interesting ensemble.
Originally unleashed in 2009 by Eric Knudsen (also known as Victor Surge) via Creepypasta, Slender Man began as an unsettling viral internet meme. Today, Slender Man is more tangible than ever, as the star of his own supernatural thriller.
The recent trailer displays a host of disturbing images, but does not give too much of its mysterious antagonist away. It hints at missing children, unexplained events and depicts Slender Man a terrifying unstoppable force.
Typically, encounters of Slender Man show him silently stalking, terrorising and abducting his victims, the majority of which are children and teenagers. His mythical character has proved far-reaching, even working its way into the world of true crime, when two young girls in Wisconsin claimed that “The Slender Man” had convinced them to kill a friend in 2014.
Slender Man will be making his way to cinemas on May 18th 2018.
