Terminator and its sequel are modern classics of the science-fiction genre, with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton cultivating characters who are now entrenched in the zeitgeist.
With that in mind, the news that Terminator 6 has been officially green lit is something to be excited about. The news was broken by screenwriter Bill Ray via his Twitter account, through which he explained that production will begin on June 19th.
The last film in the franchise – 2015’s Terminator Genisys – wasn’t well received by critics, but there are still interesting stories to tell within the universe and it appears as though there’s life left in the series.
Last week it was reported that Mackenzie Davis (Blade Runner 2049) had been added to the cast, with Tim Miller set to direct following the success of Deadpool. Linda Hamilton and Arnold Schwarzenegger are also set to star, and predictably James Cameron is on board as an executive producer.
Terminator 6’s theatrical release date is currently set for July 26th 2019.
