Penguin Random House Announce ‘Stranger Things’ Books Coming Soon
With a third season currently in production, Stranger Things fans are already keenly looking forward to the next instalment of the nostalgic Netflix smash hit. But an announcement from book publisher Penguin Random House has suggested that a new addition to the series will be on the horizon far sooner than originally anticipated.
While the next season is due in early 2019, Penguin Random House plans to release the first in a range of Stranger Things books this autumn.
There are two titles planned for release later on this year. One will be a behind-the-scenes companion to the show, offering exclusive information about the making of the series. It will be called Stranger Things: World Turned Upside Down: The Official Behind-The-Scenes Companion.
The other will be a hardcover gift book aimed at younger readers. Although not a lot of information has been released about this book yet, the publishers have described its contents as including “advice, wisdom, and warnings from the Stranger Things world.”
These will be followed by the release of a prequel novel, due for release round about the same time as the third season will hit screens next year. This will be written by author Gwenda Bond, whose previous works include Girl on a Wire, Double Down and The Supernormal Sleuthing Service.
Her history of writing daredevil young heroines make her a solid choice for the prequel story, which will follow Eleven’s mother and shine a light on how she and her daughter ended up embroiled in MKUltra.
The books will first be available in the UK and US, with other territories due afterwards, along with audiobook releases.
These books are due to be just the first of many eventual literary releases set in the Stranger Things universe, with plans in place for books aimed at both children and adults.
