Marilyn Manson Cast as Marilyn Manson Type in ‘American Gods’

Marilyn Manson has officially been cast in the highly-anticipated third season of American Gods. The Grammy-nominated artist will be playing Johan Wengren, who is the lead singer in a heavy metal Viking rock group called Blood Death.

After hearing the description of the role, Manson’s presence is not too much of a surprise. If anything, it could be perfect casting. This is just the latest addition to Manson’s filmography. He made his film debut in David Lynch’s Lost Highway during the mid ’90s. He also more recently appeared in six episodes of the supernatural horror TV series Salem.

American-Gods
American Gods, despite being on its third season, hasn’t had the easiest start to life. Season three will see a third showrunner take the helm of the fantasy drama starring Ian McShane as Mr. Wednesday and Ricky Whittle as the lead Shadow Moon.

The original showrunners, Bryan Fuller and Michael Green, who are still credited as executives, left due to budgetary issues. The second season’s showrunner (Jesse Alexander) departed because of creative differences.

Commenting on the Manson casting, Chic Eglee, the newest showrunner said, “As a long-time admirer of his estimable talent as an author, artist, musician and actor, it is dope indeed to be working with Mr Manson in season 3 of American Gods.

The third season of American Gods is expected to be released in 2020 on Starz in the US and on Amazon Prime in the UK. Marilyn Manson also has an album on the way, which is rumoured to be released later this year.
