Jessica Chastain in currently in talks with directors regarding her part in the new IT: Chapter 2 as Beverly Marsh. Whilst news is out that Chastain would star is the adult version of Beverly in the new film, it has been announced recently that filming for the sequel will begin this summer.
Director Andy Muschietti will be directing again, whilst Gary Dauberman will write the script.
Jessica Chastain will be replacing Sophia Lillis who played the young Beverly Marsh in the 2017 hit. The part of Beverly, the feisty redheaded female heroine, has been debated about, having a number of famous names attached to it as potential choices. There were many, including Sophia Lillis, who want to see Jessica Chastain get the part, but there was an equal contingent that just couldn’t get over the uncanny resemblance between Lillis and Amy Adams.

Sources stress that negotiations are early and that the script is still being worked on, but both sides have officially begun discussing Chastain coming on to the project. Bill Skarsgård is also expected to return as Pennywise.
Chastain and Muschietti have previously worked together on Mama, the 2013 supernatural drama-horror directed and co-written by Muschietti and based on his 2008 Argentine short film Mamá.
The first IT film starred Jaeden Lieberher, Sophia Lillis, Finn Wolfhard, Wyatt Oleff, Jack Dylan Grazer, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Chosen Jacobs, Nicholas Hamilton, Owen Teague, Javier Botet, Steven Williams, and Bill Skarsgård as Pennywise the Dancing Clown.
Whilst discussions on casting are underway, it is inevitable that there will be more casting developments on the horizon for the adult counterparts of the Derry kids. IT: Chapter 2 is forecast to do well in cinemas judging by the success of the first film which became the largest grossing horror film of all-time.
Chapter 2 will follow the last half of the novel, when the characters return to their hometown years later as adults to face Pennywise once again. Chastain would be the first big star attached to the sequel, though the Muschiettis have said that they would hope to bring back the original young stars for flashback scenes.
IT: Chapter 2 will be released in September 2019.
