Grimmfest Returns Next Month with ‘May Madness’ Mini Festival
Following the success of their Easter Horror Nights event, Grimmfest have announced another digital mini-festival called May Madness, a startling selection of three double bills for the late May Bank Holiday Weekend. Tickets for the streaming event, which will take place on April 29-31, are available here.
Grimmfest have always managed to procure brilliant, diverse line-ups for their events, and May Madness appears to be no exception. The event will boast the UK premieres of Lapsis, a quirky sci-fi satire on the evils of the gig economy, and Perfect Enemy, a mind-bending psychological thriller.
Festival favourite Cody Calahan, who took the Grimmfest 2020 Audience Award with The Oak Room, is set to return. His gory, dark comedy Vicious Fun will have its English premiere. Meanwhile, Daniel de la Vega fuses Latin American Gothic imagery with references to sleazy giallo in the European premier of On The Third Day.
A riotous, chaotic comic book of a movie, Jason Axinn‘s To Your Last Death will see characters facing the terrors of both sibling rivalry and pan-dimensional beings. We will also be served up some serious nostalgia with the UK Premiere of Scott Conditt and Jeremy Tremp‘s retro-’80s teen horror actioner, Max Reload and The Nether Blasters.
Festival director Simeon Halligan said: “This is likely to be our last fully online gig as UK cinemas begin to open this summer. We wanted to welcome brighter times into our lives and say goodbye to darkness through a mix of fun, crazy, scary and downright weird movies for you all to enjoy on the cusp of summer”.
