Since the success of his Groundhog-Day-meets-Scream slasher Happy Death Day and its sequel, audiences have been keen to see what Christopher Landon’s next project will be. Fans of the Happy Death Day franchise may be disappointed to learn that it won’t be a third instalment. However, recent reports indicate that Landon’s next film will be another mind-bending odyssey of ultra-violence.
Judging from the official synopsis, the film will do for Freaky Friday what Happy Death Day did for Groundhog Day, taking a much-loved comedy premise and sprinkling it with a liberal dose of murder:
“After swapping bodies with a deranged serial killer, a young girl in high school discovers she has less than 24 hours before the change becomes permanent.”
Hailing from Blumhouse studios, Deadline reported that the as-yet untitled project will star Vince Vaughan and Kathryn Newton. The film will be co-written and directed by Landon, and produced by Jason Blum and Adam Hendricks.
Landon has promised his Twitter followers that they will need to “buckle up for this gory, batshit movie.”
