Andy Muschietti’s ‘IT: CHAPTER 2’ Could Begin Filming This Summer

The first chapter of Andy Muschietti’s IT was a critical and financial success, delighting audiences with its charismatic characters and over-the-top horror. With that in mind, Warner Bros. will want to follow up on the first film with another excellent adaptation, and today Omega Underground are reporting that CHAPTER 2 will begin filming on June 18th 2018 at Pinewood Toronto Studios.

As of yet this rumour is unconfirmed, but with a tentative theatrical release date of September 6th 2019, Muschietti and his team will need to start working on the sequel very soon.

Fantasy castings have Molly’s Game co-stars Jessica Chastain and Idris Elba as frontrunners to star as Beverly Marsh and Mike Hanlon respectively, but for now this is mere speculation.

What we know for sure is that IT: CHAPTER 2 will see Bill Skarsgård reprise his role as Pennywise the Dancing Clown, and will centre around the Loser’s Club in adulthood as they attempt to once again rid the town of Derry from the titular villain.

IT: CHAPTER 2 takes place 27 years after the original film and is based on the Stephen King novel of the same name.
