Two of contemporary cinema’s most iconic actors, Jason Momoa and Peter Dinklage, are set to play off each other in upcoming supernatural action/horror The Good, The Bad and The Undead. The actors, who will also have producer roles on the film, will play the fearless vampire hunter and, in Momoa’s case, a regretful vampire.
Based on an original idea from Damian Shannon and Mark Swift, the duo who penned Freddy vs. Jason and Friday the 13th (2009), the film will offer an offbeat take on the relationship between vampire and vampire hunter.
Described as ‘Midnight Run in a Bram Stoker world’, the film will see Dinklage’s Van Helsing playing a kind of supernatural confidence trickster. Teaming up with a vampire who has sworn off murdering the innocent, Helsing runs a scam on unsuspecting villagers, in which he pretends to vanquish the vampire menace for money. But when a massive bounty is put on the vampire’s head, everything in this dangerous world full of monsters and magic is now after them.
It’s a hilarious premise and, if the working title is anything to go by, the film doesn’t intend to take itself too seriously. Expect pratfalls and mayhem against a backdrop of Hammer horror camp. Lets just hope it does better than 2004’s Van Helsing.
