New Cast Details Revealed for Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Manson Family Movie’

A dead-eyed egotist whose rabid disciples would literally kill for him, Quentin Tarantino is a director whose next project, based loosely on the life and times of Charles Manson, is garnering a great deal of critical and popular interest. At this stage in his career, Tarantino more or less gets whatever he wants, so when he reveals his desired casting choices, it’s not just wishful thinking. It seems that the director has his eye on Tom Cruise to play one of his film’s two male lead roles.

What isn’t clear, however, is which role Tarantino has Cruise pegged for. While Cruise seems like a good choice to play a charismatic cult leader like Manson for reasons that are obvious (and maybe best left unsaid for legal reasons), Manson’s right hand man Charles ‘Tex’ Watson is probably the meatier role. After all, Tex was the one who actually committed the murders, and his clean-cut all-American image is probably a better fit for Cruise visually.

Of course, these aren’t the only options. Our favoured role for cruise would be that of Vincent Bugliosi, the prosecutor who spun the murder trial into a narrative of drug-addled brainwashing that terrified Middle America and effectively killed the hippie era forever.
