Black Mirror, Charlie Brooker’s science-fiction anthology series, has been renewed for a fifth season.
The series focuses on the perils of technology, telling a slew of loosely connected cautionary tales in the vein of The Twilight Zone and Tales of the Unexpected. Over its four season run the show has starred Hollywood actors such as Get Out’s Daniel Kaluuya, Jurassic World’s Bryce Dallas Howard, and Star Wars’ Domhnall Gleeson, demonstrating just how popular it has become in the mainstream.
Black Mirror, Season 4
Streaming giants Netflix will continue to distribute the series, which has been one of the best shows on television since its premiere on Channel 4 in December 2011. To this date the show has not declined in quality, with the recent fourth season boasting the directorial talents of Hannibal’s David Slade and Silence of the Lambs’ actress Jodie Foster.
The renewal of the series, via a short announcement video, will come as no surprise to anyone who has stuck with it since its conception and is a welcome development for fans.
At this point it doesn’t have a concrete release date, but the prospect of more Black Mirror in the future is definitely something to get excited about.
