Naomi Watts, Will Sasso and Annabelle Wallis Set to Star in Joe Carnahan’s ‘Boss Level’
Last year, it was announced that Mel Gibson (Lethal Weapon) and Frank Grillo (The Purge: Anarchy) were set to star in Joe Carnahan’s upcoming thriller, Boss Level.
Today we have further news regarding the project, with Variety reporting that Naomi Watts and Will Sasso are now on-board to appear alongside Gibson and Grillo. Watts is one of Hollywood’s most talented actresses, something which she has proven in movies like Mullholland Drive, The Ring, and Funny Games – so her inclusion is something to be excited about. Annabelle Wallis, who recently starred in Annabelle: Creation and The Mummy, will also be joining the cast.
The film is a murder mystery with an element of science fiction, as the story revolves around a retired special forces operative who is trapped inside a time loop. Every day, the veteran (played by Grillo) experiences his own death, and in order to end his ordeal he must find out who is responsible.
The plot evidently takes inspiration from films such as Groundhog Day and Happy Death Day, with the narrative of the latter mirroring Boss Level’s in a number of ways.
Boss Level is yet to receive a theatrical release date, but with a strong cast and a tried-and-tested plot device at its core, we’ll wait for this one with eager anticipation.
