Jessica Lange to Return to ‘American Horror Story: Apocalypse’

Immediately following the news that FX has renewed American Horror Story for a ninth and tenth season, we’ve also gotten word that the upcoming eighth season will see the return of Jessica Lange. The eighth season of the addictive horror anthology series, titled American Horror Story: Apocalypse, comes to our screens later this year, with Lange reprising her Season 1 Murder House role as Constance Langdon.

This is exciting news for many of us who missed Lange after her departure following Season 4 Freak Show. Lange’s stand-out performance in Season 1 as creepy next-door neighbour and faded southern belle Constance has ensured the character remained memorable long after Lange’s departure.

Given the show’s cast recycling, as well as its anthology series format, fan theories have always abounded about possible links between the seasons. However, now it seems like some concrete links are finally being drawn, as this will being the first time we have an inter-season mash-up.

ahs.jpgSeason 8 will combine the stories of Murder House and Coven, featuring the now grown-up version of Tate’s demonic baby in Murder House. This adult antichrist will be the centre of the season and is set to be played by Cody Fern (Assassination of Gianni Versace).

Sarah Paulson will return as Cordelia Foxx and Billie Dean Howard, with Emma Roberts also returning as Madison Montgomery. Evan PetersKathy Bates, Joan CollinsCheyenne JacksonBillie LourdLeslie GrossmanBilly Eichner and Adina Porter are also confirmed.

Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman (UnReal) and Kyle Allen (The Path) recently joined the cast, although both are only set to appear as guests.

American Horror Story: Apocalypse premieres September 12th in the US, although a UK date is still unconfirmed.
