After releasing the teaser trailer, I Am Tasi, earlier this week, and months of a found footage teasing campaign, horror developers Frictional Games have had their fans eagerly anticipating what their new project could be. We now finally know what this campaign was all for, a sequel to the Amnesia game series, Amnesia: Rebirth.
Frictional Games are best known for their entries to the survival horror genre with both the Amnesia and Penumbra franchises, as well as the cult favourite Soma. Rebirth will be set in set in the same universe as its predecessors, this time following Tasi Trianon through the Algerian desert as she’s pursued by some unknown, but undoubtedly terrifying, monster. This will be a step away from the original’s iconic castle setting.
This will be the third entry of the Amnesia series but will mark Frictional’s return to developing for their own universe since they only published the 2013 indirect sequel, Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs.
Amnesia: Rebirth is set for release in Autumn 2020 for PC and PS4. Check out the announcement trailer below.
