A glimpse into the darker side of nerd culture has often lead horror fandom into a more distinctive spotlight. To treat the morose and macabre with such admiration requires a specific passion, for a somewhat more hardcore community.
Wes Craven’s A Nightmare on Elm Street paved the way for Freddy Krueger to be marked as one of the most iconic horror characters of our time. This rise in fandom encouraged horror film maker Paige Troxwell to investigate the depths of his following and offer an insight into the mind of a “Fred-Head”.
Fans show no bounds in their support and loyalty to Krueger, as they beam around his memorabilia and art work. Toxwell and her crew travel across the country to interview the veterans of the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise. This empire, spanning several decades, consists of cast, crew and fans alike, all eager to share their experiences and reflect on what the Freddy community has meant to them.
There is even an Indiegogo page to help fund the documentary. Check it out here.
